How often should I wash my apron?

  • Washing your apron will depend on how frequently you are using it. As a general rule, we recommend washing your apron every 2-3 uses, or immediately after a big spill. This will help maintain the cleanliness of your apron, as untreated stains will affect your apron's appearance.
  • Also, always be sure to carefully check the manufacturer's care guide to ensure your apron is machine-washable as some aprons will require a separate hand wash to help with their longevity.

How to choose which apron?

  • Before choosing the right apron for you, it is important to ask yourself what it is you need it for. For home cooking, an apron is ideal to protect you from any spills or splashback that may stain your clothes. If you are looking for an apron that provides additional coverage you cannot look further than
  • Our RANS collection of aprons. These aprons are a classic bib style that provides coverage from the neck down, are generous in length, and offer an adjustable strap around the neck for the perfect fit.
  • For those looking to move around the kitchen, we recommend going with an apron that has a handy pocket to easily store any utensils or items you may need. Our J.Elliot Selby Apron collection features a useful middle pocket perfect for anyone looking for a little extra storage from their apron.

What are oven mitts used for?

  • Oven mitts are a must-have in the kitchen to protect your hands when handling hot cookware. Oven mitts are made from durable heat-resistant materials to help prevent accidental burns when touching hot items from the oven, stove or countertop.
  • At the Manchester factory, our collection of durable cotton oven mitts is very flexible giving you the ability to grip onto hot dishes of all shapes and sizes with comfort and ease.

What is the difference between a pot holder and an oven mitt or glove?

  • Typically pot holders and oven mitts are made with the same heat-resistant material. What affects their function and performance all comes down to their shape.
  • You will generally find pot holders to be square or rectangular in shape and are also quite flat and smaller in size compared to an oven mitt or glove. For this reason, pot holders are greatly useful when moving hot dishes around the kitchen and dining area.
  • However, if you are looking for more hand, wrist and even forearm coverage we also offer oven gloves and double mitts which provide extra protection against heat.

How often should I wash an oven mitt?

  • To get the most out of your oven mitts we recommend inspecting your oven mitts after each use and you may wish to spot-clean them with a mild detergent and cold water as needed.
  • Before machine washing any cloth oven mitt to remove any hard-to-clean stains, be sure to check any care instructions provided to make sure it can withstand a machine wash. Otherwise, we advise hand washing separately in cold water and always be sure to fully airy dry your oven mitts before using them again as wet oven mitts cannot resist heat and offer no protection.
