It is important to care for your hot water bottle properly to prevent burns. We recommend that before use, you inspect your hot water for any signs of wear and tear. This includes looking out for any small holes, cracks or if it is faded or looks to be worn out. These are some signs of damage, and in this case, you should not use it.
When using a new and functional hot water bottle, do not use boiling water as this may damage the seams of the bottle and increase the risk of burns caused by any splash back when filling. Also, fill up your hot water bottle to no more than two-thirds of its capacity, and before screwing the stopper shut be sure to expel any air inside the bottle.
This is important to ensure that there is not too much pressure building inside the hot water bottle so it does not burst and cause burns. After use, we recommend that you empty your hot water bottle completely and leave it to hang upside down to dry. Once dried, store in a dark and dry spot in your home. This is important for two reasons.
Firstly, storing a hot water bottle that still has water inside can cause mould to grow inside. Also, exposure to lots of sunlight and storing your hot water bottle with water still inside can cause the bottle to break down, making it not safe to use.
How often should I replace my hot water bottle?
As a general rule, we recommend that you replace your hot water bottle every twelve months. This is because rubber naturally deteriorates over time. During this time, be sure to inspect your hot water bottle before each use, and if you spot any sign of wear and tear replace it immediately.
It is also important to store your hot water correctly in between uses to get the most life out of it. By keeping your empty hot water bottle stored in a dark and dry place you can prevent it from breaking down prematurely.
How do I clean a hammock?
As your hammock will be constantly exposed to the elements, it is quite impractical to wash it very frequently. Instead, to maintain the cleanliness of your hammock in between washes we suggest using a soft brush and a mild detergent and cold water to lightly clean the surface to remove any build of dust or dirt when needed.
We recommend giving your hammock a deep clean every three months or change of season, as leaving it for too long will make hard-to-clean stains difficult to remove. Be sure to always check the manufacturer's care guide to see whether your hammock can withstand a machine wash.
For machine-washable hammocks be sure to wash them on a cold gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Avoid bleach and fabric softeners as this will damage your hammock just leave it to air dry.
How should I store a hammock?
In order to maximise the life span of your hammock, we recommend storing your hammock away when it is not in use, particularly during periods of rain. It is a good idea to first give your hammock a good clean and ensure it is fully air dried before storing it away. You may fold your hammock and place it in a breathable bag to preferably be stored indoors in a cool and dry place.
This will prevent the growth of mould, which can weaken the material and make your hammock not safe to use. Also, exposure to excessive direct sunlight may cause the dye to fade.
